Hissor - a historic city. Hissor fortress
Hissor is urban - type settlement - the administrative center of Hissar district of Tajik Republic, located in the central part of the Hissar Valley 18 km west of the capital - Dushanbe. In the northern part of the area paved motor road Dushanbe - Termez connecting Tajikistan and Uzbekistan. The population of the village is 25 thousand inhabitants. Representatives of different nations - Tajik, Uzbek and Russian are living in Hissar. In the period after the state independence of Tajikistan, June 26, 1993 officially became a city of Hissor, and for 12 years carried the status of the city until it was once again transformed into a settlement in 2005.
Hissor climate - sharply continental. This is due to the birth of the region among the huge mountains, such as the north is surrounded by Hissar, Gazimalikskim from the south, from the south-west Babatagskimi Mountains.
According to the history of Hissor, it is closely linked to the ancient town of Hissor, which has past 3500 years of rich culture. According to archeological findings, which were excavated in the territories of Hissor historians and archeologists came to the conclusion that people have lived here for 40 thousand years. Perhaps that is why this old fort never ceases to impress the travellers coming to Tajikistan. Due to the popularity of the ancient fortress of Hissar, guides had learned by heart the entire history of Hissor and its attractions.
Hissor historical and cultural reserve - the object that was built in the late 80's of the 20th century, 5 km far from the center of Hissor district. The open air museum area of 86 hectares combines archaeological and architectural monuments of different eras that are in this area.
Hissor fortress – one of the most famous historic buildings in Central Asia, built 2500 years ago. The fortress is the main gate - arc, built in the 16th century by the Emir of Bukhara. At that time, the fortress served as the residence of the Emir of Bukhara. The fortress walls with a thickness of about 1 meter represented a huge yard with a swimming pool and a large garden. By the main entrance were large stairs and terraces lined with brick. But, unfortunately, they have not survived. Today, next to the Hissar fortress two huge plane trees grow with age 500-700 years.
The old Madrasa - brick building with an area of 2250 square meters with an entrance portal surmounted by a dome - was built in 16-17th centuries. It was located opposite to Hissar fortress the Holy Koran was studied. The library is llso preserved from the old premises.
The new Madrasa - was built 17-18th centuries to the present day, unfortunately, preserved only two-story facade of madrasa, but the main part was completely destroyed.
Caravan saray "Hishtin" - the old, restored brick hotel. Another notable building complex located in front of the Hissar fortress. It was built 17 - 18 century among the marketplace having many stalls.
Makhdumi-Azam Mausoleum - "The greatest master", a historical monument of Hissar located next to the old madrasah and was built in 16-17 centuries.
Sangin Mosque (Stone Mosque) - a monument of architecture of Tajik, which is located in Hissar reserve, was built in the 12th - 16th century.
